Von den Hürden einer Convention: von Echte Sinte Es ist also endgültig: Rainfurrest, eine der großen, vielbesuchten, US-amerikanischen Furry-Conventions kann dieses Jahr nicht stattfinden.  Das letzte der zahlreichen Hotels, das die Organisatoren im Raum Seattle für dieses Jahr in Betracht gezogen hatten, hat diesen Samstag (06.02.16) letztgültig abgesagt. Es verbleibt keine Chance mehr auf ein Rainfurrest 2016. Letztes Jahr konnte die Convention noch geschlagene 2704 Teilnehmer aufweisen. In dieser Hinsicht ist die Rainfurrest mehr als dreißig Prozent größer als die Eurofurence (die größte Europäische Furry-Convention – mit 2095 Teilnehmern). Dies ist ein Schlag, den die US-amerikanische Furry-Community nur mit Bauchschmerzen hinnehmen wird. Dr. Courtney “Nuka” Plante is a social psychologist and co-founder of the International Anthropomorphic Research Project, a group of social scientists who have studied the furry fandom for the past six years and, to date, published more than 15 peer-reviewed papers. Dr. Plante’s research primarily focuses on the impact of fantasy activities on identity and well-being, and has also done work on social identity within fandoms and the effects of dehumanization on concern for animal welfare.  He works as a postdoctoral fellow at Iowa State University studying how players become immersed in video games and how this affects their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.…
