Ivic, our wonderful moderator from South Afrifur, was diagnosed with aggressive brain cancer in late 2020. Thanks to your support we were able to pay for his treatment and medication last year, but Ivic lost his fight against cancer on Sunday, May 22, 2022 at 19:19 (GMT+2). Ivic and his family need your help again: the funeral costs are not covered by his insurance, so we are collecting money to cover most of the costs. The cremation alone costs about 20.000ZAR (1194,74 Euro). If donations exceed the amount of the funeral, we will transfer the excess amount to the Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA).
Ivic is the Co-Founder of the South Afrifur Podcast. Ivic was a lecturer in his real life and decided to work on South Afrifur as an outlet for his furry side. He loved talking to guests and enjoyed how we're able to interact with furs from all over the world. Ivic had a wide variety of musical tastes and listened to anything from classical to metal. Ivic joined Furry.FM in 2015 and since then he was producing new shows and music programs every Sunday. Most of the shows have also been recorded and can be listened to via Youtube.
South Afrifur and Ivic managed the English part of Furry.FM and were constantly on the lookout for new talent and projects to present them to the Furry community. In 2017, the South African furry community held it's first convention - a major breakthrough locally! The South Afrifur Con took place for the first time this year and this event has been held every year since (except for 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic). In spite of the interruption, the community continues to grow!
